Theology Unleashed is a Biblical word studies summer series from Jesus, Justice + Mercy:
13 short episodes, each under 10 minutes, unpacking one Greek or Hebrew word your tradition probably got wrong and why that translation gap has shaped the way we see justice, the poor, the stranger, the church, and each other.

What is the Jesus, Justice + Mercy podcast all about?

Jesus, Justice and Mercy | Bold faith, radical love, and justice for the church.

Welcome to Jesus, Justice & Mercy: a podcast for Christians who sense that justice matters but feel the tension between Jesus and much of what they see practiced in the church.

If you’re wrestling with inherited faith, questions that don’t have easy answers, or the growing gap between the Gospel and the world we’re navigating, you’re not alone.

I’m your host, Kristen Brock, seminary-trained, rooted in the church, and committed to following Jesus with honesty, courage, and compassion. Across 70 episodes and three seasons, we’ve engaged Scripture, history, and lived experience to explore the intersections of faith, justice, and discipleship. We talk about race, trauma, power, civic responsibility, and the ways faith has been both a source of harm and a force for healing.

Whether you’re deconstructing, rebuilding, or simply learning to ask better questions, this is a space for thoughtful reflection, faithful wrestling, and a faith shaped by justice, deeply rooted in Scripture.

Past seasons

Season 3 | Discipleship on Fire 20 episodes | 2025–2026

Season 3 asks what it costs to follow Jesus when the church is comfortable, and the world is on fire. We move through Re-Member, Re-Build, and Re-Imagine, covering reconciliation, prophetic witness, mental health, women’s leadership, and a Pentecost big enough to hold it all.

Season 2 | Flipping Faith: A Justice-Rooted Journey 25 episodes | 2024–2025

Season 2 invites you to flip the script on what you’ve been taught about faith, justice, and discipleship. Through a four-part framework — Recognize, Unlearn, Reimagine, Embody — we follow Jesus under empire, listen to the prophets, and trace the Advent themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love into a faith brave enough to tell the truth.

Season 1 | Re-Member: Reclaiming a Justice-Rooted Faith 26 episodes | 2024

Where it all began. Season 1 lays the foundation, exploring what the Bible actually says about justice, why the church has often gotten it wrong, and what it looks like to follow a Jesus who was never neutral. We cover race, immigration, poverty, trauma, Jubilee, and the cost of a faith that takes the whole gospel seriously.

What people are saying

Must Listen to Podcast

I have never once listened to a podcast so beautifully written that I wished I could highlight and underline with a book....until now. Kriten is an excellent Bible teacher and a gentle but honest guide in a difficult conversation. I started this podcast after it had been running for at least six months-but I'm going back to the beginning to listen to it all the way through. Thank you for this resource and your boldness, Kristen! It's such important work.

Thought Provoking

Kristen is so thoughtful, biblical, and loving in everything she says and does! Her podcast is so thought-provoking, informative, and easy to follow. I love the way she brings up hard topics. You never feel judged or cast out. I always look forward to the next episode!

Blown Away

I'm listening to Jesus, Justice + Mercy from the very beginning, working my way through every episode-and I am blown away. Kristen Brock manages to be both humble and bold, a rare and powerful combination. The content isn't always easy to hear; in fact, it's often deeply challenging. But it's also incredibly well-researched, thoroughly sourced, and grounded in truth. This podcast is doing important, holy work, and I'm grateful for it.
