Discipleship on Fire | Season ThreeJesus, Justice + Mercy Podcast

Discipleship has never been passive.
It has never been neutral.
And it has never been separate from how we love our neighbors.
Season 3 of Jesus, Justice & Mercy explores what it means to follow Jesus with courage, integrity, and love in a world shaped by injustice, fear, and deep division.

What this season is really about
Season 3 is a journey into justice-shaped discipleship.
Not discipleship as self-improvement.
Not discipleship as comfort or certainty.
But discipleship as faithful practice — formed by Jesus, shaped by justice, and lived in the real world.
This season asks:
- What does it actually cost to follow Jesus?
- How have power, fear, and comfort distorted discipleship in the Church?
- And what might faithful obedience look like now?
This is not about having the right answers.
It’s about becoming the kind of people Jesus calls us to be.
Re-Center
(episodes 1-3)
The inner work of discipleship
We begin by returning to Jesus and examining how formation happens, what has shaped us, and what it means to follow Christ when faith feels costly and unclear.
This movement focuses on courage, obedience, and the quiet decisions that form us long before public witness ever does.
1. Ready or Not: The Year Courage Stops Being Optional
Re-Member
(episodes 4-7)
Black wisdom for a wounded church
This movement centers voices the Church has too often ignored, particularly Black theological wisdom and lived faith forged under oppression.
Here, remembering is not nostalgia, it is truth-telling, honoring, and learning how faith has survived and resisted harm.
Re-Build
(episodes 8-11)
Repair, responsibility, and truth
Discipleship does not stop at awareness.
In this movement, we wrestle with repentance, repair, and the Church’s role in both justice and injustice. We ask what accountability looks like, personally and collectively, when faith has caused harm.
re-Imagine
(episodes 12-16)
The church we could become
Finally, we turn toward hope, not shallow optimism, but faithful imagination.
What might the Church look like if discipleship were shaped by Jesus’ life, not cultural power? What kind of witness becomes possible when justice and mercy belong together?
